Well
today (Friday 10/2/15) is the start of my second week of the Great Road Trip
Adventure. I sit here reflecting back on
the first 2,500 miles of my journey; considering all of the wonderful sights
seen, people met and experiences had.
While I haven’t been “off the grid” as much as I had anticipated, the
opportunities to write and post entries into my blog have just been
nonexistent.
For the evenings that I had WiFi, I was really too tired to begin the process that I take when blogging. There were too many missing facts and research necessary to provide a decent replay of the days’ activities. And the effort required to review and edit literally hundreds of photos would have been too time consuming to do each evening along the way.
The
irony comes that here I sit, at the end of Nova Scotia’s Cape d’Or Peninsula,
overlooking the Bay of Fundy, completely off the grid. There is no WiFi or television. So it is here that I begin my writings to be
posted later when I have arrived to my next location with WiFi. I’m thinking that will be Monday night near
Halifax; at least that is how the schedule is planned for now.
Speaking
of planning, while some of my travel was researched and booked weeks and months
ago, much of what I’ve done this first week was spontaneous. Weather has played a big part in my impromptu
changes in direction; both the good and the forecasted bad. It has all worked out very well so far, including
today’s down time here at the keepers’ quarters at the Cape d’Or Lighthouse. But more about that later.
It
is my hope that my limited postings on Facebook kept folks informed and
interested until I could actually spend the time necessary to blog meaningful
entries about my trip. So here goes . .
.
